Welcome to Madison on the Cheap, your home for frugal fun in South Central Wisconsin! Our mission is to keep you updated on free and cheap things to do in the Madison, Wisconsin, area.

That’s me, Danielle (in front), enjoying one of the many free music events in Madison.
My name is Danielle Letenyei, publisher of Madison on the Cheap. I have lived and worked in Madison / South Central Wisconsin for almost 30 years. I love getting out and having fun, but I also live on a tight budget. So I’m always looking for free and cheap fun things to do that won’t break the bank.
And I’d love to share with you the new deals, freebies, and fun activities in Madison that appeal to all ages.
Having fun doesn’t have to cost you a fortune. Some of my favorite frugal things to do include biking around Lake Monona, listening to free live music, kayaking the Yahara River, or taking advantage of some of the best happy hours in the town.
Madison on the Cheap is part of the Living on the Cheap network, the flagship website of a national network of 30+ “on the cheap” local sites.

Disclaimer: I post the deals as I find them. But you know the drill: prices and promotions are subject to change at any time and without notice. If you think something sounds too good to be true, check with the merchant before you head out.
FYI: Some of the free events, coupons, & other deals posted on Madison on the Cheap include affiliate links. What does that mean to you? Not much–That free coupon is still free for you, and the discounts are the same. What does that mean for us? Some of the businesses we mention will pay us a bit of money to say “thanks for the referral.”
As always, we will continue to serve you the best deals around, and we’ll never skip telling you about a better deal, even if it makes you less likely to use an affiliate link. But as always, we have to find ways to pay the bills. If you do download a coupon or take advantage of a deal via our links, thanks. Think of it as tipping your server, only without the extra out-of-pocket expense on your part.
Have fun. Be cheap.
