One of the best things to do in Madison during the summer is to stroll around the Capitol Square on Saturday mornings for the Dane County Farmers Market. The market features locally sourced fresh produce, meats, cheeses, bakery goods, flowers, homemade jams and salsas, and more.

But if you can’t make the Saturday market or don’t want to fight the crowds, there are other markets going on throughout the city and surrounding communities for you to find fresh, farm-to-table food for your dinner table.
Many of the Madison area farmers markets participate in the Community Action Coalition Double Dollars program, available for residents on the SNAP/FoodShare program. With Double Dollars, FoodShare recipients receive a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $20, on their purchases at participating farmers’ markets.
Here’s a list of 20 farmers’ markets in the Madison area, arranged by the day of the week they are held. Markets that participate in the Double Dollars program are identified by an asterisk (*).
